The short animation movie No darkness will make us forget by
Huseyin Karabay, produced by ART for The World was presented during
The Mediterranean Approach at the Palazzo Zenobio, in Venice
(2011), at [mac] Museum of Contemporary Art in Marseille (2012) and at SESC Pinheiros - São Paulo,
Brazil (2012/2013).
Following this idea that everyone has something to say about himself,
during his journey in São Paulo at SESC Pinheiros, Hüseyin Karabey has
put together three days workshop Digi-tales.
Through the dynamics of relationship the filmmaker created an atmosphere where the ten participants of the workshop felt free to tell their stories.
By the end, Digi-tales became a collection of ten emotional short
movies of people from all places and of all classes: from architecture
students to refugees. Karabey believes that the stories should be told by
their protagonists and in Digi-tales he turned these histories into
Art, creating a process of healing their souls. The importance and beauty of
the method is that it can be shared. In fact, the participants can
easily teach each other the fundamental values, the respect for themselves
and their identity.
Hüseyin Karabey is a filmmaker and Human Rights activist. Born in 1970, Hüseyin Karabey has been making films since 1996. He graduated from the Cinema-TV department of Marmara University in 2001. His involvement in the democracy movement in the 90s and his background as a documentarian determined the style and the content of his subsequent film work. His shorts, documentaries and first feature film Gitmek have been shown in a great number of international film festivals and won numerous awards.
Recently he participate in lonf feature film F-Tipi with
other nine well known Turkish directors, with a segment of 10' involving stories about Turkey's bloody Prison crackdown of 2001.
